Awareness

Strength does not fall out of thin air and land in your lap. Strength is this hidden power within each of us that we have to dig deep and fight for. With each challenge, heart break and scar, we add a brick to a pile. That pile slowly turns into a wall, then overtime the wall gets taller, more resilient with each storm. That wall being built is strength. Strength protects us, guides us and comforts us. We all learn how to be strong and together we makes each other stronger. October is Dysautonomia awareness month. I have thought really hard about awareness month and what it represents to me so here we go..

I live with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and dystonia, as one person i can only stand so tall and share my story only so many times. One person cannot change the way the world looks at Dysautonomia. Awareness month is about all those suffering and impacted by Dysautonomia to stand together. Make as much noise as we can because one way or the other we will make sure the world is aware of all the illnesses, invisible or visible that impacts so many of us. Together we help each other to be strong and we are the one there to listen and understand when others don't. Awareness month is about making new friends and reminding each other that no matter where you are in the world there is someone else walking in the same shoes as you and understands you completely. Strength is all of us building the same wall that joins us all together.

so... I sit here writing, knowing that somewhere in the world someone is getting a diagnoses they have been longing for, all because we are stronger together and together we fight for awareness
