The look of beauty

Scars tell stories, each part of a constellation that tells the story of our lives. We all wear scars on our ever so aging skin, within the wrinkles, stretch marks and even between countless freckles. Beauty is the stories we wear on our skin, that we are too quick to judge, refuse to accept and want to erase. My face may look young but my hands and arms tell my story. The reality that with pain comes the closest thing i have to a cure. I wear on my wrists the remains of cut off hospital wristbands that i refuse to count. With visual reminders staring me in the face everyday, that this life is special and not everyone has the strength to stare it straight on. Fewer tears trace the outline of my cheek, while i wear smiles through the rain and smirks when the sun shines. Real beauty, is the kind of beauty you can look and smile at. As you sit there and talk about all those times that were real hard at the moment but with time helped you to be the person standing here today. Hard days only last so long then you forget that those hard days taught you something. Without challenge, pain and defeat we would not have the knowledge to see triumph, strength and love. The look of beauty is painted on us all.
